I first heard of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati in a summer retreat that I attended about a month ago. One of the retreat leaders was telling us about him. He was honestly a normal guy, like you and me, who liked to hang out with his friends, who liked to have fun, and who found joy in giving service to others. One thing that truly struck me was how at his funeral, thousands of people from the streets went to celebrate his life. Apparently, he had spent his days helping out anyone found in the streets, anyone alone, anyone exiled by society. His parents had no idea that he had spent his life helping all these people! Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati showed me that it is indeed possible to become a Saint even as a young person.
